Expressed as bits per inch (BPI), the number of bits that can be written onto one inch of track on a disk surface.

Deleted file

When a file is deleted using the operating system command or Delete-key, it is only the reference to the file that is deleted. The space previously occupied by the file content will be free to use by any new file. It is possible to recover the deleted file until a new file has occupied the space.
